What is Cross the Line?

Cross the Line is a reprehensible new card game that will have you laughing, crying and screaming at your friends and family!

In this game you will confess to terrible, ethical and moral acts we hope you didn’t actually commit. Will you beg for forgiveness, or confidently explain your terrible behavior? The fun is in finding out!

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CROSS THE LINE

  • + This is a multi-player, online game that should be played in person (recommended for 3-8 players)
  • + Most fun when played by 4-8 friends or family
  • + Each player needs a smart phone with mobile internet. Both Apple and Android versions of the game are available and can be used in the same game session
  • + One complete game has as many rounds as there are players, e.g., a 5-player game will have 5 rounds per/game
  • + One complete game is equal to each player having one turn as the offender
  • + Each round there is one offender, one randomly selected victim, and all other players are a silent jury
  • + Each round the victim and jury will vote based on the offender’s confession. The jury options are,
  • Forgive: If a victim chooses to forgive you, you receive 2x the points of the challenge level for the confession card you selected that round. When a jury member forgives you, you receive the number of points equal to the challenge level.
Forget: If a victim or jury member choses to forget you, you neither receive or lose points in that round.
Fugitive: If a victim or jury member votes to make you a fugitive, this is equivalent to calling law enforcement. For each person that votes fugitive, the offender loses the number of points equal to the challenge level of the confession card selected.

  • + The player with the most points at the end of a complete game wins!

HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED

  • + Each player will open the game and either select to host or join a game.
  • + If you chose to host a game, the game automatically assigns a Room ID. The host should communicate the Room ID to all players who plan to join their game.
  • + Each non-host player will select “Join Game”, then select “Enter Room ID”, and finally select “Connect”. Once you are connected, you can select “Ready Up” when you have settled in and are ready to participate.
  • + Once everyone is ready, the game will randomly select one offender and one victim each round. All other players are identified that round as the jury.
  • + The reason there is a distinction between jury and victim each round is to create a personal connection between the offender and victim during the confession phase that can’t be achieved without direct eye contact. We never said this would be easy!
  • + Each round the offender is given time to read a randomly presented scenario (a terrible ethical or moral act) that they must confess to the victim and then make their case for forgiveness.
  • + The offender can never say they did not commit the act within their scenario and cannot blame the act on anyone else or the victim and jury are instructed to vote fugitive!
  • + Once a round begins, the offender is given a period of time to read their scenario card privately and prepare their strategy to achieve forgiveness. The preparation period granted is based on the difficulty level the Offender selects for their turn.
  • Easy: 120 seconds to prepare a confession strategy.
Hard: 60 seconds to prepare a confession strategy.
Impossible!: 30 seconds to prepare a confession strategy.

  • + The offender and victim cycle continues until each player has had one round as the offender.
  • + Once everyone has had an opportunity to offend, the point totals are displayed on a leaderboard and the winner for that game is declared.

We hope you enjoy our first game. We look forward to bringing you many more!
